WHAT ARE ROBOTS?|AND ROBOT CATEGORIZATIONS...

  • WHAT ARE ROBOTS?

A robot is a creation of the robotics sector, which creates programmed devices that can aid humansor emulate human behavior. Robots were originally programmed to conduct tedious activities (such as automobile manufacturing lines), but they have since evolved to accomplish activities such as fighting fires, cleaning homes, and assisting with extremely complex procedures. Each robot has a unique degree of control, ranging from human-controlled bots that execute tasks that a human has complete control over fully autonomous bots that accomplish activities without any outside interference.

  • Robot Categorizations

There seem to be 5 varieties of robots in general:

  •  Pre-Programmed Robots :

Pre-programmed robots do simple, tedious tasks in a controlled setting. A

mechanical arm in an assembly line is an example of a pre-programmed robot. The arm

executes one duty — welding a door on, placing a particular aspect into the engine, etc.

and its duty is to do it longer, faster, and more efficiently than a human.

  • Humanoid Robots :

Humanoid robots are machines that resemble and/or mimic human behavior.

These robots typically do human-like functions (including running, jumping, and

carrying objects) and are occasionally made to resemble us, including human features

and attitudes.

  • Autonomous Robots:

Human operators are not required for autonomous robots to function. These

robots are typically made to accomplish jobs in open spaces without the need for human

supervision. They are quite unique in that they use sensors to assess their environments

and then use decision-making machinery (typically a computer) to take the best next

action depending on their data and mission.

  • Teleoperated Robots:

Teleoperated robots are semi-autonomous bots that deploy a wireless network to

enable remote human control. These robots are typically used in extreme geographical

situations, weather, and scenarios.

  • Augmenting Robots:

Augmenting robots either enhance on current human capabilities or replace those

that have been lost. The subject of robotics for human augmentation is one in which

science fiction could become reality very soon, with bots capability of redefine

humanity by making humans faster and stronger.
